SANGLIER IN THE FRAME FOR KOSCIUSZKO RUN
The Matt Dunn trained Sanglier has put his name up for a Kosciuszko run after a solid first up effort at Eagle Farm where he finished third in a Class 6 Handicap over 1000 meters only beaten 0.8 lengths after being trapped three wide the trip.
The lightly raced four year old gelding will take huge improvement from the run after only heading to the races off the back of one trial and looks to be peaking at the right time.
Sanglier is a classy prospect – being multiple stakes placed as a 2 year old behind the likes Long Leaf, Oohood and Sunset Watch.
Sanglier was formally Godolphin owned and trained by James Cummings before being purchased by Viva Racing last year and transferred to Matt Dunn at Murwillumbah.
Trainer Matt Dunn has always had a high opinion of Sanglier “He was a new edition to our stable last year and is a horse that has outstanding talent. It has taken a little time to iron a few things out with him and get him to relax in races, however he is getting better each start and his first up run was terrific where he should have won the race at Eagle Farm with a little luck. He is one of the quickest horses to come through the stables in recent years and when everything clicks on raceday he is stakes/group quality.”
Sanglier will only carry 55kgs if he secures a run in the Kosciuszko and is a real versatile option for slotholders. He can race on speed or off pace, whilst he has also won on both dry and wet tracks, including a 7 length win on a heavy surface.
Sanglier will race again at Doomben on Saturday 28 September over 1110 meters and will be peak third up on Kosciuszko Day at Randwick.
