Subterranean flies late to claim Group 3 Ken Russell
Classy colt Subterranean was a deserved winner in the Group 3 Ken Russell Memorial stakes over 1200 meters at the Gold Coast on Saturday.
After copping a squeeze early in the race, Subterranean settled near the tail of the field and had it all to do in the straight. Under the urgings of top jockey Nash Rawiller, Subterranean finished off strongly over the last 100 meters to nail Ranch Hand on the line.
Snitz runs brave second in Takeover Target Stakes
Stable favourite Snitz put in an excellent run in the Listed Takeover Target Stakes at Gosford on Saturday to round out a great weekend for the Viva Racing team.
Snitz was aiming for back-to-back Takeover Target wins and looked like he might steal the race at the 150-meter mark before being run down late. The quality sprinter has now amassed over $500,000 in prizemoney and continues to be competitive at the highest level.
Both Subterranean and Snitz have been brilliantly prepared by leading trainers Matt and Keira Dunn at the Warwick Farm and Murwillumbah stables respectively.
