Subterranean runs brave placing in Group 3 B.J McLachlan Stakes

Viva Racing’s Subterranean lost no admirers on Boxing Day at Eagle Farm where he ran a brave third in the Group 3 B.J McLachlan Stakes.

Jumping from the outside gate he had no luck in the race by having to work hard to cross and lead the field in the first couple of hundred meters. Unfortunately he also had no peace in front after getting to the lead with the race favourite overraccing on his outside the entire race.

Subterranean fought on hard in the straight to finish 3rd and was strong through the line.

He has done a terrific job in his first preparation coming from the breakers straight into the Matthew Dunn stables at Murwillumbah. His first three runs have seen improvement each time with a 3rd on debut followed by a race win at Doomben and culminating in a Group 3 placing.

The son of Rebel Dane will now have a well-deserved 6 week spell before targeting races in the winter. He looks to have a very promising career ahead of him and will reach his best at 1400-1600 meters and beyond.

Subterranean is co-owned by Viva Racing in partnership with Steve Grant Bloodstock.

Our attention will now turn towards purchasing another top-quality racehorse at Magic Millions and Inglis sales.
