Tribeca Star primed for tilt at this year’s Kosciuszko

Viva Racing’s talented galloper Tribeca Star is in great order as he presses for a spot in this year’s Kosciuszko, the world’s richest race for country trained horses with $2 million in prizemoney.

Tribeca Star won comprehensively first up at the Sunshine Coast last week with 60kgs on his back and ran home in 33.22, quickest last 600 meters of the day off a slow tempo.

He also had plenty of fitness improvement to come and will peak for the Kosciusko at Randwick on Saturday 19 October.

Tribeca Star has a terrific record of 4 wins from only 14 starts with 11 top 3 finishes. He was a strong winner of the Northern Rivers Country Championship heat earlier this year and is a horse on the up.

The Matthew Dunn team have Tribeca Star in the best shape of his career and he looks really well placed in a Kosciusko. He will only carry 56kgs, excels in the 1200 -1300 meter distance range and handles rain affected tracks.

Horses for the race are decided by a Kosciuszko sweepstake with 14 ticket holders drawn on 11 September. Each winner then selects a NSW country horse to race in their ‘slot’ with prizemoney split between slot holder and owners.
