Winners keep on coming.....

Viva Racing’s impressive start to the year continues to gain momentum with Tribeca Star, Ocean’s of Energy, Nashira and Stormy Rock all strong winners in March.

Stormy Rock’s win was Viva Racing’s 7th Metro winner in the last 3 months. In total, 35 runners have hit the track for 12 winners and 16 placegetters.

Tribeca Star dominant at Doomben

Tribeca Star was outstanding first up from a spell at Doomben on the 8th of March winning with plenty in-hand. A few nervous moments early when he was last out of the gates, however jockey Andrew Mallyon got him into a nice spot mid-race and he was too strong late.

Tribeca Star broke the class record in the process in what was a dominant display. We have always had a high opinion of the son of Star Turn and he looks set for a massive campaign.

He will look to race across both Brisbane and Sydney in coming months with Listed races over the winter carnival an attractive option.

Oceans of Energy impressive on debut

Ocean’s of Energy was ultra impressive on debut winning by just under 4 lengths at Grafton. The daughter of Dundeel has always shown good ability, however we didn’t expect her to be so dominant as a 2 year old over 1000 meters!!

Ridden a treat by Ash Morgan he was glowing in his praise for her post race. To win so impressively on debut showed her talent and it’s very hard for a 2 year old to run the quickest last 600 meters of the day against the older horses.

The exciting thing for owners is that Ocean’s of Energy will only get better as a 3-year-old over further ground.

Ocean’s of Energy was our first filly purchased as part of a breeding syndicate and it's a great start for all partners.

Nashira registers back-to-back wins

Nashira registered back to back wins at Doomben on 1 March under Ben Thompson providing a great thrill for the large ownership group. Nashira has an impressive record since relocating North to the Steve O’dea and Matt Hoysted yard with three close seconds and two wins.

His most recent run at Brisbane Saturday grade was outstanding. He settled near the tail of the field and was really strong late, running the quickest last 600 meters of the race.

Nashira has now headed off for a well-earned spell after a really strong campaign.

Stormy Rock over the top

It was great to see Stormy Rock bounce back to form with an impressive Saturday metro win at Doomben on 18 March at 40-1!!

Not much has gone right for Stormy over the past 12 months with injuries, firm tracks and bad rides seeing a long run of outs.

Stormy Rock is a horse that needs everything to fall into place to win, however when he has conditions to suit with speed on under a quiet ride he has an electric sprint late. Well ridden by Jayden Lloyd and the 1.5 kg claim also contributed to his win.

Very rewarding win for the patient owners.
